Case study of thick film resistor used in medical field

Customer is a telecom equipment provider in USA, was developing a high-performance signal amplifier for 5G base stations. The amplifier needed to ensure that signals were transmitted without distortion, especially in high-frequency applications, while maintaining stability under harsh environmental conditions. The challenge was to find resistors that could handle high power dissipation, provide precise resistance values, and remain stable across a wide range of operating temperatures, particularly given the significant heat generated in telecom systems. Additionally, the components needed to meet stringent industry standards for reliability and performance. 


How We Solve It?

We provided custom-designed thick film resistors that could handle the high power demands of the telecom amplifier. The resistors were designed with a power rating up to 2 watts, ensuring they could dissipate the heat generated during signal amplification without overheating or degrading in performance.

To manage the heat generated by the high power in the signal amplifier, we used ceramic substrates with excellent thermal conductivity. This helped dissipate heat more effectively, ensuring the resistors could maintain stable performance even in high-temperature environments (up to 85°C). By the way, to meet the strict time-deadline of customer, we finished the production within 2weeks.
